What is FST?

Fascial Stretch Therapy is a form of assisted stretching with a holistic approach to the body.

Fascial Stretch Therapy is a type of physical therapy that focuses on the fascia and joint capsules to achieve optimal flexibility, performance, strength, and relief of tension or pain. FST sessions are performed on a massage table, where the client’s body is completely relaxed while the therapist performs stretches and movements. By moving joints together with their surrounding tissue, FST therapists are able to relax both fascia and muscles at the same time allowing you to improve flexibility, reduce aches and pains, and increase your range of motion.

Unlike massage therapy, sessions are performed fully clothed and without the use of any massage lotions or oils. Instead of kneading or stroking the surface of your body, FST utilizes gentle traction, oscillation, and circumduction of the joints in combination with passive stretching and targeted breathing.

Benefits of FST

  • Improve flexibility

  • Increase range of motion

  • Reduce or eliminating pain

  • Reduce recovery time

I saw John to work on two specific nagging injuries which have been greatly improved with his treatment, along with take home stretches, and exercises. After just one FST session I saw an incredible improvement in my range of motion, and after each session I notice an increase in my endurance when training – I have more power and endurance to push through! I strongly encourage you to bump recovery a little higher up on the priorities list and try out FST!
